What's on my mind

I feel the need to just write. I feel like I’m nearing a turning point in my life and I’m just too excited to sleep. You know that feeling you get the week before you go to Disneyland or Christmas and you’re so excited that you can’t do anything but think about it? Ya, that’s how I feel. And to top it off I am going to Disneyland in a week and I haven’t had a break or vacation in such a long time that I’m counting down every minute of every hour! I feel like I’ve taken crazy pills….the good kind of course. Haha. That’s what I’m feeling right now. This summer my work cut my hours. I was sad about it at first because I was hoping to earn some extra money for cushion, just in case something happens and Will doesn’t get the job he’s been working for. We might need to move to wherever teacher’s are being hired and I’m excited about that. Change is coming and I’m so ready for a change. I just want to get away and do something new. So, what will be will be. I’m going to use all my extra time to do fun projects that I’ve been dying to do. It’s been so long since I’ve been able to be creative and create my own art. This will be a summer of new beginnings. I will not start projects and then never finish them. Homemade things don’t need to be perfect. In fact, homemade things are made even better for their imperfections. I think back to an American flag quilt that I made about 6 years ago and it was PERFECT….except for one star that was backwards. I didn’t notice it until I had completely finished it. There was no turning back to fix it. It made me laugh how much work I had put into that quilt and how much I wanted to make it perfect. It took me about a year and a half to finish it. I kept starting it and then stopping it. I went over it again and again to make sure nothing was out of place and now that it was finished after a year and a half of work and a single star was backwards. Since there was no turning back I had to accept it. It was a learning lesson for me because it was PERFECTLY IMPERFECT! I loved it and I’m so glad I had made that mistake. It was beautiful in every way. I’ve already finished 2 projects and have started on the 3rd which will be done by Friday hopefully. Most of it is sewing. I hope to show you all pictures of projects galore!

I'm jealous you guys are going to Disneyland. (;

And I'm excited to see pictures of all your projects. Maybe we should have a girls craft day - I have a lot of excess creative energy right now, too.

Aww, I feel kinda of bad that your big project is hanging in Jackson's bedroom now. It's funny that I've never noticed the backwards star (I know you told be about it before, but I can never find it). Anyway, if you're ever ready to have it back please let me know (yes, I'll be sad to have it gone), but it is YOUR quilt. I'm just happy to be "storing" it for you until then. :)
