A perfectly rainy day

(View from my office window at DSC)

The rain makes me so happy even though I am neck deep in textbooks and studying. Not studying has finally caught up with me and I'm heading into a hurricane of grade altering tests! But for now, the rain makes the worrying go away....I'll save the flipping out for tomorrow.

2 Little Monkey's

My two little nephews Sam and Nate were born 2 days apart, so for their birthday I wanted to do something fun and creative. I was inspired by Emily Martin's Black Apple portrait of Monkey C. Hall from her Lost on the Midway collection. I just loved the little guy and had to have him for my two little monkey buddies, but of course, she wasn't going to release the prints for another 2 months! So I decided to make 2 monkey felt dolls. Really, I was hoping they would turn out a little cuter but Nate and Sam loved them no matter what! I hand painted the faces and then went to work. I have never done anything like this before so my felt dolls can only get better with time :) P.S. Birthday hint for my family...Since my birthday is coming up soon I would love love LOVE one of Emily Martin's 8x10 prints. My two favorites are Heart and Key and Lost on the Midway

A Top Secret Mission

My two best friends Staci and Steph invited me to join in on a fun little escapade in dressing up for an all Silly Girls Unite photo shoot. The idea came from the two creators of Silly Girls Photography. They wanted tons of groups of girls all around the world to get together and do a silly girls photo shoot and then we would all share our awesome pictures! They had a voting poll where the groups voted on their favorite theme. Staci and Steph wanted Futuristic to win but Stripes & Polka Dots or Secret Agents won. So we did "Futuristic Secret Agents." Thanks to Staci and Steph we had AMAZING costumes via DI! Who knew you could find such sweet stuff! When Stephs in a DI she's like a kid in a candy store! They created a St. George group and got down to business with my afro that they both have been dying to do. So, while they worked on my fabulous fro, I got down to business on discovering my saucy inner secret agent....GinJet!

For those of you who don't know...."I sold my hair!"

Not really but I've always wanted to say that ever since I saw Little Women when I was 9 years old and Joe cut her hair. I've finally done it and it feels fabulous! Ok, I cut my hair about a month ago and it's already grown an INCH+! I don't know if I'll ever go back to long hair again! Maybe it will be my summer ritual to chop off my hair.

AFTER

Will said he likes my hair better short and curly instead of short and strait. What do you think?

Katie and Tyler's Wedding

My little sister Katie and fiance Tyler were married in the St. George temple on May 14. It was an amazing experience because we were all together in the temple, all of my sister's and their husbands, my mom and dad and grandma and grandpa. Not one person was missing. What makes it even cooler is that we have all been sealed in the same room in the St. George temple (except for Karen :(, Mike I blame this on you!) I'm so proud of Katie for choosing to be worthy to be married in the temple and for choosing such a great guy!

Katie being so BEAUTIFUL and happy on her wedding day!

The cake and the flowers turned out BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING! My favorite were the dark purple mum's. I've never ever seen a mum!

Mike eating a delicious cream puff (aka, an expensive twinkie) like a Nobleman

This picture makes me laugh every time! Family pictures with the Colvin's consist of Jake and Jackson making faces and or being distracted, Sammy giving the grump face and Kelly looking beautiful. Boys...this makes me think of the episode of Malcom in the Middle when they try to get family pictures. Haha, so funny!

These little nuggets of joy were the best things I have ever eaten in all my life! They were like a brownie dipped in milk chocolate and then sprinkled with toffee bits. I seriously ate like 50 of them!

Sammy and Nate love Uncle Will.

That is they LOVE Uncle Will to chase them around like he's a ZOMBIE coming to EAT their little BRAINS!!!!

What's on my mind

I feel the need to just write. I feel like I’m nearing a turning point in my life and I’m just too excited to sleep. You know that feeling you get the week before you go to Disneyland or Christmas and you’re so excited that you can’t do anything but think about it? Ya, that’s how I feel. And to top it off I am going to Disneyland in a week and I haven’t had a break or vacation in such a long time that I’m counting down every minute of every hour! I feel like I’ve taken crazy pills….the good kind of course. Haha. That’s what I’m feeling right now. This summer my work cut my hours. I was sad about it at first because I was hoping to earn some extra money for cushion, just in case something happens and Will doesn’t get the job he’s been working for. We might need to move to wherever teacher’s are being hired and I’m excited about that. Change is coming and I’m so ready for a change. I just want to get away and do something new. So, what will be will be. I’m going to use all my extra time to do fun projects that I’ve been dying to do. It’s been so long since I’ve been able to be creative and create my own art. This will be a summer of new beginnings. I will not start projects and then never finish them. Homemade things don’t need to be perfect. In fact, homemade things are made even better for their imperfections. I think back to an American flag quilt that I made about 6 years ago and it was PERFECT….except for one star that was backwards. I didn’t notice it until I had completely finished it. There was no turning back to fix it. It made me laugh how much work I had put into that quilt and how much I wanted to make it perfect. It took me about a year and a half to finish it. I kept starting it and then stopping it. I went over it again and again to make sure nothing was out of place and now that it was finished after a year and a half of work and a single star was backwards. Since there was no turning back I had to accept it. It was a learning lesson for me because it was PERFECTLY IMPERFECT! I loved it and I’m so glad I had made that mistake. It was beautiful in every way. I’ve already finished 2 projects and have started on the 3rd which will be done by Friday hopefully. Most of it is sewing. I hope to show you all pictures of projects galore!

Happy Anniversary Will!

Will and I have been married for 3 years today April 6th! Isn't it crazy how time flies?

I love you sugar!

I wish I could relive this day. I had so much fun!

Will and I met in Nutrition class at Dixie College while I was in my senior year of high school. Will was of course the class clown and the only person who would actually talk in class so I knew of him. After we were married he confessed to me that he would purposely drop his pen while in class so that he could turn and sneak a peek at me. I had NO IDEA! He asked me for my phone number while I was walking out to my car and when I told him sure he got so excited and he was so nervous that he said "GREAT!" and then walked away without my phone number. Haha!

I Love You Will! I'm glad your my adventure buddy!

This is our fairytale picture.
